The Amazing Coin Balance

THE EFFECT: First you take the coin and balance it upright on the fingers of your open palm - impressive enough i'm sure you'll agree, but suddenly with a wave of your hand, you get it to slowly and visibly drift backwards into your palm! Simply AMAZING!

THE SECRET: What's the secret to one of the coolest easy coin tricks? A small sewing pin! This is what you secretly use to act as a stand to balance the coin against. It must be concealed before the trick, in the hand you are going to balance the coin. The pin needs to be placed between your forefinger and middle finger, pin head down.

THE METHOD: Ask to borrow a coin. (Any coin can be used but the bigger the better I find) For example borrow a two pence piece from a spectator. Take the coin and secretly balance it against the pin. It will look to the spectators as if the coin is balancing unsupported!
With the pin gripped between your knuckles gradually release your grip on the pin ever so slightly allowing the coin to slowly and visibly drift backwards under it’s own weight.

When the coin is flat on your palm you should find that the pin rests between your fingers in the crack. You can keep it hidden there and just hand back the coin. You can even drop the pin secretly letting them concentrate on some other point(exam your other hand pretending that your other hand is also doing something).
